Crown gold
Rare, dense, and made to stay. The long memory of a settlement.
“One more bar. One more winter covered.”
From seam to stack
Ore leaves the Reach mixed with stubborn basalt. It must be crushed, separated and refined before the mint will strike a mark. The bar’s stamp records its source cut and assay. A new bar carries a history before it ever reaches the strongroom.
The choice behind the shine
In the world concept, gold is the slow reserve. Refining it uses power that could run drills or repair a lift. Keeping it makes a settlement more resilient later, while spending it can make a settlement more capable now. There is no automatic right answer.
In a shift
Gold is the output that survives a bad night. A furnace turns ore and a heavy slice of your allocation into bars that cannot be browned out, stolen by a draw spike or lost when a belt goes down. Every bar you strike is power you did not spend on the arc fence.
