One frontier.
One power bill.
Hashlands is told in chapters, by the people who keep the frontier running. Read them in order — every one ends where the next begins.
The Allocation
Before anyone on the frontier knew there was a story, there was a power bill. Chapter 1 is the world as it stood in Year 38 — and three people who learned what it costs.
The Long Brownout ended an age of easy promises. What crawled out of it wants exactly one thing, and it wants it constantly: power.
Settlements cut gold out of basalt and silver out of moving ice. Along the cold river, twelve hyperscale halls run day and night on a draw curve that bends the dispatch board. Nobody in Hashlands is fighting over territory. They are fighting over the allocation.
Open the frontier atlas- PART 1 OF 3
Mara Venn refuses the Stacks' bid on her first night. Remember the stamp on her furnace: North Cut, seven.
- PART 2 OF 3
Tovan Rusk learns that a Union meter can be right and still not tell you where the power went.
- PART 3 OF 3
Ilen Saye marks a forged North Cut bar as disputed instead of erasing it. That decision is where Chapter 2 begins.
The Lights on the Haul Road
A season after her first shift, Mara Venn runs the north terrace clean. Then two headlights park on the haul road and do not move, and a forged bar comes home to the furnace that never made it.

Hall Thirteen
The frontier wakes up dark, a hall nobody registered is drawing what three settlements need, and the record says the Auric Reach paid for it.
