Compute yield
Hash, inference and model hours — ore pulled straight out of the grid.
“It weighs nothing and it costs everything.”
The oldest Hashlands idea
Before the Brownout the frontier's first machines existed to chase hashes. That never stopped — it grew teeth. Compute yield is produced by pointing enormous electrical draw at a problem and selling the answer.
Why it is dangerous to plan around
Yield pays better than metal, instantly, with no haulage. It also competes with every furnace, pump and heater on the same grid. A settlement that leans into compute gets rich for a season and freezes in the next one.
The tension the game is built on
Metal is slow and keeps. Compute is fast and evaporates. Power can only go to one of them at a time. That single choice, made every shift, is the argument at the centre of Hashlands.
